WWU WAterski Team

History

The Western Washington University Tournament Water Ski Team was formed in the late 90's. The team is currently the largest team outside of California and Arizona. The team recently hosted the 2007 NCWSA All-Star tournament in tandem with a first-ever Collegiate Night Jump. The WWU Ski Team held a one-of-a-kind, high caliber tournament event, and raised the standard for National tournaments for years to come.

Mission Statement

We are a team who's main focus is to foster & develop the sport of waterskiing to as many people as we can, and to make it easy, accessible, and affordable for anyone willing to try. There are no requirements to be a member of the team other than an interest in the sport. Our goal is to be able to show and share with others the fun and excitement of this great sport.

Info/FAQ

Do I have to know how to Waterski to Join?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! We have skiiers from all ability levels, most of whom have never skiied competitively.
Do I need to have my own gear/go buy new stuff?
The Team has a large selection of Team Gear for use by anyone on the team. We also have access to factory discounts and plenty of hand-me-downs and used goods from other skiiers
Where do you Ski/Practice?
We ski on Lake Samish, about 15 minutes south of Bellingham on I-5. We also often have special practices on local ski lakes like Borderline Lake and Bow Lake. See the Practice Page for directions and more details.
I live on-campus and don't have a car, can I ski in the fountain?
Trust us, its cheaper to pay dues than ski in the fountain. We always have team members willing and able to provide transportation to any of our practice sites - plus carpooling is good for the evironment. Please see the contact list or talk to the team capitan if you need help finding a ride
Isn't waterskiing expensive?
Team dues are $160 for spring quarter 2008 (less in the fall) and gets you unlimited skiing for the quarter- this is a GREAT DEAL and cheaper than most teams with less access to practice facilities. Tournaments range in price but are usually $120 (including entry fee) - AND you get to go to California for the weekend.
